Obituary: Kris Komatz Jensen

8/11/64 ~ 2/19/03

Kris Komatz Jensen, age 38, peace-fully passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2003 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born Aug 11, 1964 in Pittsburgh, PA to David and Lynn Komatz.

All those that loved Kris remembered her zest for living and infectious personality. She was always dressed impeccably and admired for her natural beauty.

Kris graduated in 1987 from the University of Oklahoma's Dental Hygiene school. She loved being a dental hygienist. Her gift of gab and gentle touch put her patients at ease. They loved her. During hygiene school, she met and married her former husband, Dr. Alan C. Jensen. Together they had their precious daughter, Katie Lynn. Kris was also a loving mother to Alan's two other children, Andrea and Brandon.

Katie brought immeasurable joy to Kris' life. They spent many hours shopping, talking, laughing and playing the violin. She taught many a novice the fine art of getting the best deals. Her homemade noodles in her chicken noodle soup was a special treat that she enjoyed sharing with her family and friends. Kris relished a good debate and brought insight into every conversation. Everyone that spent time with Kris was impressed by her incredible intelligence and quick wit. Although she could solve even the most mind boggling crossword puzzle, Kris had no sense of direction when driving and often found herself in the wrong state. She continually built others up, instilling confidence and assertiveness within her close alliances and family members.

Kris was extremely enthusiastic, which was obvious during her daughter's athletic events where her talent for heckling and harassing the referees was well known. In fact, she even won an award for her "uninhibited exuberance." Her favorite football teams were the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. In keeping with tradition, Kris would make her family recipe of Buckeye Chocolates every holiday season. She had a fanatical feline fetish; she loved cats, especially, Billy Bob.

Kris dearly loved Mike Kendro and enjoyed watching him play his favorite sport, hockey. She spoke often of their recent trips to Seattle, San Diego, Detroit and North Carolina. Together they were planning a life together in North Carolina. Kris will be terribly missed by the many people who loved her.

Survivors include parents; two sisters, Kathleen Johnston, Amy Komatz; beloved daughter, Katie Lynn Jensen; niece, Madelyn Johnston; boyfriend, Mike Kendro; and her cat, Billy Bob.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tues. Feb 25, 2003, Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E. 3300 S. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Directors, Holbrook Mortuary.
